Founder/owner of One A-Chord Academy and working musician, Scott Shrock Jr. is pursuing his lifelong dream. Growing up in Los Angeles, California, he was surrounded by amazing talent and knew music was his passion. He taught himself how to play the bass guitar and piano by listening to music when he was a child.
By the age of 16, he knew he wanted to work “in music”. In his teens, he joined many bands and performed all over Southern California. He then decided to further develop his fascination with music and applied to Musicians Institute in Hollywood CA. He was accepted into their Bass Performance Program. Scott graduated in the top of his class and received the “Outstanding Achievement Award”. Some of his favorite instructors/mentors include Alexis Sklarevski, Todd Johnson, Putter Smith, and Dominic Hauser. In 2006, Scott moved to the Pacific Northwest where he has played and recorded with many talented local bands and artists. While this proved to be exceptionally rewarding, Scott knew he still wanted to peruse other areas in music. He opened One A-Chord Academy in Monroe, WA in 2009 to focus on youth development.Scott moved to Stanwood, WA in 2016, where he opened a new location for One A-chord Academy. While he continues to support youth development, he has also found many adults also have an interest in pursuing their music education, and he now offers individual and group lessons to all ages. Scott’s classes include electric, fretless and upright bass, electric, and acoustic guitars, piano, and drums. He specializes in music theory, ear training, and band development.
Art Teacher, Experienced Artist
Cathy Thielke lives in Snohomish with her three daughters, Violet, Rita and Janelle. She was raised in Kirkland and has lived in Washington her whole life. She’s a true Washingtonian and cannot imagine living anywhere else. She loves art, horses, gardening, reading and music.Cathy’s love for art started when she was very young and grew out of her love for horses. She was not able to have her own horse so she began to draw them. She drew them over and over again and her art skills improved as she fed her passion for horses. Cathy’s High School Art Classes expanded her subject matter and knowledge of art. She was asked to teach art twice a week at her former elementary school when she was a High School Senior. It was this experience that sparked her love for teaching. After she graduated, Cathy went to Central Washington University where she graduated with a major in Art and Education.Over the last twenty years, she has taught art whenever the opportunity presented itself. Cathy started teaching for One A Chord Academy for the last 5 years. She loves all kinds of art and truly adores teaching others how to master the skills and develop the creativity to produce a beautiful work of art.–> SCHEDULE ART CLASS NOW!
